Chocalhos - Transhumance Festival will be held on September 18th and 19th in the colourful village of Alpedrinha, heavenly nested in Gardunha Mountain, in the surroundings of the city of Fundão. This outstanding festival celebrates the shepherds, the sheep and grazing, which is one of the most iconic activities of this region.
During the event, the shepherds and their embellished sheep flocks cross the narrow streets of welcoming Alpedrinha, evoking a deeply ancestral tradition. This event is also a showcase of Protected Denomination of Origin products and wines. It is also an opportunity for younger generations to witness deep-rooted traditions and to understand the major role played by this activity in local development.
Chocalhos - Transhumance Festival also organises concerts, workshops and conversations on wool heritage.
