Bio D'Agro is a pilot project for the development of inland border regions of Center of Portugal. 4.0 agriculture happening in Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo, at the heart of Douro International Natural Park.
Bio d'Agro project is an answer to the great challenges of this territories through the creation of an innovation lab in a vineyard owned by Colinas do Douro. It will be developed an intelligent alert and information system allowing farmers to monitor their cultures in a remote way, so that they can make choices that promote local biodiversity and environmental sustainability without jeopardising agricultural productivity.
In the Upper Douro wine region, the intensification of vineyards has caused a considerable degradation of native habitats and a lost of biodiversity.
This innovative project brings together the universities, tech companies and the municipality of Figueira de Castelo Rodrigo.
